Managed Operations Systems Engineer

Join Our Team as a Systems Engineer

We are excited to announce the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and are seeking experienced Systems Engineers to join our AWS Managed Operations team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of high-availability AWS services tailored for EU customers.

Your Responsibilities

• Oversee the ongoing operations and expansion of the ESC.
• Collaborate closely with global AWS teams to influence the evolution of AWS services and technology.
• Enhance day-to-day operations, focusing on availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
• Participate in “on-call” rotations to resolve incidents outside of regular hours.
• Review operational health and identify anomalies to improve system performance.
• Provide constructive feedback on change management documents and address operational backlogs.
• Engage in the development and testing of scripts to enhance workflows.
• Educate service teams on the complexities of the European Sovereign Cloud.

Requirements

• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU.
• Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
• Experience in systems engineering or site reliability engineering.
• Able to lead the creation and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with monitoring frameworks (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana).
• Mentoring experience with junior engineers and leading cross-organizational efforts.
• Experience operating 24x7 high-availability distributed software applications.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
