Space Systems Functional Avionics Engineer

Position located in Getafe (Madrid). The Airbus Space division is Spanish leader in developing and manufacturing complex space systems. The selected engineer will contribute to several functional avionics disciplines and will support FV and FDIR activities for the LSTM mission (short‑term) and PAZ2 mission (mid‑term). The role is part of a multi‑disciplinary engineering team and will involve delivering on‑cost, on‑time and on‑quality products to the customer. The engineer may also participate in preparing new proposals for constellation satellites and work across systems such as on‑board SW development, simulations, AOCS, FV and operations.

Responsibilities

• Under the coordination of the FA lead, manage all technical aspects related to functional activities, with special focus on validation and verification activities.
• Support the technical follow‑up of subcontracted equipment development in functional areas, including embedded HW/SW sub‑developments, and assess technical risks and RFD/RFW.
• Coordinate with the AIT team in defining and following up required test systems, preparing system integration and test activities, and reviewing test reports, with special focus on functional tests.
• Support the Quality Team in investigating anomalies and non‑conformances, providing technical support in NRBs.
• Prepare technical documentation, deliver technical presentations, and contribute to technical proposals.
• Support project technical reviews, conduct and lead technical reviews with equipment suppliers.
• Work in close collaboration with other engineering disciplines (thermal, mechanical, harness) involved in the system development throughout the whole lifecycle.

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in space system projects.
• Experience in requirements management.
• Experience in subcontractor technical management.
• Experience in functional verification and FDIR.
• Programming experience in Matlab/Simulink and C.
• Advanced level of English.
• Experiences appreciated: Requirements management with Confluence/Jira, experience with SRDB or OPS.
