The successful candidate will support the post-award management of a growing portfolio of national and international research projects, ensure compliance with funding agency requirements, and support researchers throughout the full project lifecycle. The role operates at the interface between academic teams, institutional support units, and international partners, facilitating the efficient delivery and impact of research initiatives. The chosen candidate will work closely with faculty, the IE Research Office, and other internal units (finance, legal, procurement, and HR) to strengthen institutional research management processes.

We are looking for a person to join a full-time position in Madrid - IE Tower.

Responsibilities

Your role as a Project Manager will involve:

• Supporting the implementation and coordination of research projects across the School of Science and Technology.
• Monitoring project progress and ensuring alignment with contractual obligations, milestones, deliverables, and reporting schedules.
• Ensuring compliance with funding agency rules and administrative requirements (e.g., Horizon Europe, EIC, EIT, and national research programmes).
• Keeping up to date with funding agency regulations, reporting procedures, and project management requirements.
• Supporting financial monitoring and budget tracking in collaboration with the Research Office and relevant financial units.
• Coordinating communication between principal investigators, consortium partners, and internal IE administrative units (finance, legal, HR, procurement).
• Supporting the preparation and submission of technical, financial, and periodic reports to funding agencies.
• Assisting in the coordination of dissemination, communication, and project documentation activities.
• Contributing to the development and improvement of internal workflows, tools, and best practices for research project management.
• Supporting the monitoring and reporting of research project performance and institutional impact indicators.

Qualifications

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• MSc in science, engineering, or a related STEM field; PhD and/or additional training in project management, research management, or business administration will be considered an asset.
• At least 3 years of experience in the management or coordination of research and innovation projects, preferably within European programmes and/or national research funding schemes.
• Solid understanding of research funding frameworks, including grant agreements, reporting procedures, and compliance requirements.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate stakeholders in multidisciplinary and international environments.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge administrative, financial, and scientific aspects of research projects and contribute to the improvement of workflows and project management processes.
• Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
