Junior Legal Advisor - Intellectual Property

Role Purpose

Provide legal support primarily in Intellectual Property , commercial contracting, and digital and technology-related matters, offering practical legal guidance to different business areas.

The role will be part of the Legal team, mainly supporting Spain and Italy, while also providing support on corporate matters or legal matters involving other countries when required. The position will work closely with more senior members of the team, progressively developing greater autonomy and knowledge of the business.

We are looking for someone who already has professional experience in Intellectual Property and is keen to continue developing their legal career in an international business environment, particularly within the editorial, educational, and digital space.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on Intellectual Property matters related to editorial, educational, and digital content.
• Support the drafting, review, and negotiation of agreements involving the acquisition, assignment, and licensing of rights.
• Provide contractual legal support to different business areas, including Editorial, Digital, Commercial, Marketing, Procurement, Technology, and Operations.
• Draft and review commercial and technology-related agreements, including services, SaaS, development, maintenance, and supplier contracts.
• Support digital and technology projects, including initiatives involving Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies , particularly in relation to their impact on Intellectual Property.
• Become familiar with the company's contractual templates, legal criteria, and recurring business queries, progressively contributing to their management and resolution.
• Support the review of distribution and channel agreements and matters related to commercial models.
• Collaborate with the Legal team across Spain and Italy, as well as with other Legal teams within the Group, on cross-functional initiatives.
• Provide occasional support on other legal matters affecting the Group when required.

Requirements

Education and Languages

• Degree in Law (Spanish Law).
• Knowledge of and professional experience in Intellectual Property and Industrial Property .
• A Master's degree or postgraduate qualification in Intellectual Property would be highly valued.
• Knowledge or training in Digital Law, Technology, and Artificial Intelligence would be an advantage.
• Native or bilingual Spanish.
• Advanced English , essential for working effectively in an international environment. (Mandatory)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of professional legal experience , with meaningful exposure to Intellectual Property matters.
• Experience in contract drafting and review.
• A practical foundation in Intellectual Property is required; this is not an entry-level position.
• Previous experience in publishing, education, media, digital content , or other businesses where copyright and intangible assets play an important role would be highly valued.
• Experience in a law firm with a practice focused on Intellectual Property, Digital, or Technology Law will also be considered.
• Strong interest in understanding the business and providing practical legal solutions.
• Learning agility and willingness to progressively take on greater autonomy and responsibility.
• Strong legal analysis and drafting skills.
• Ability to communicate legal matters clearly to both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong organisation and prioritisation skills.
• Proactive mindset, attention to detail, and solution-oriented approach.
• Strong digital awareness , particularly regarding Artificial Intelligence, emerging technologies, and their impact on Intellectual Property.
• Ability to work effectively in an international and cross-functional environment.
