The CNIC is offering a
Predoctoral Researcher position
in the Molecular and Genetic Cardiovascular Pathophysiology laboratory, led by
Dr. Vicente Andrés
The selected candidate will join a leading research laboratory in the field of atherosclerosis and premature and physiological aging associated cardiovascular disease. He/she will participate in a basic research project addressing key questions related to the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible of vascular damage in progeria, with the ultimate goal of revealing novel targets for the design of efficient therapies.
The successful candidate will carry out research tasks within the framework of the funded project, including:
designing and conducting experiments,
presenting findings orally at seminars and scientific conferences,
preparing articles and contributing to project progress reports
grant funded by MICIU/AEI /********/************ and FSE+
Hold a Bachelor's degree equivalent to 300 ECTS credits or more, or a Bachelor's and Master's degree, that grants access to a PhD programme, in disciplines related to the life sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Medicine, Biomedicine, etc.).
Be admitted to a PhD programme at the time the employment contract is formalized.
Not having exhausted the maximum four-year period of employment under the same predoctoral contract scheme, in accordance with Article 21 of the Spanish Science law.
Not already hold a PhD degree awarded by any Spanish or foreign university.

C1. Scientific and technical contributions. The candidate's academic record and other curriculum vitae merits (awards, authorship in scientific publications, congresses presentations, etc) will be evaluated, as well as their suitability for the tasks to be performed, considering their educational background and professional experience.
C2. Mobility and internationalization. The relevance and impact of the candidate's research stays in national and international institutions and/or in the industrial sector will be assessed, taking into account the prestige of the host institution and the activities carried out during the placement.

C3. Knowledge or research experience in cardiovascular diseases and aging.
C4. Strong communication skills in English. These must be evidenced by an official certificate at level B2 or above.
C5. Hold certification to work with experimental models, functions A, B and C (Order ECC/********).
C6. Interview
Positive action: a correction factor of 1.5 is applied for each year of experience when assessing criteria based on years of experience for persons with a disability of 66% or greater, and a correction factor of 1.2 for persons with a disability between 30% and 65%.

C1. Scientific and Technical Contributions.
The candidate's academic record and other curriculum vitae merits will be assessed, as well as their suitability for the tasks to be performed, considering their educational background and professional experience. Candidates must provide an official academic transcript and will be evaluated based on their cumulative grade point average.

The relevance and impact of the candidate's research stays in national and international institutions and/or in the industrial sector will be assessed, taking into account the prestige of the host institution and the activities carried out during the placement. This information must be reflected in the CV and will be evaluated according to the duration of the stays (in years or fractions thereof).

Knowledge and research experience in the field of cardiovascular diseases and aging will be assessed. This information must be reflected in the CV and will be evaluated as a whole, considering the relationship between length of experience and area of specialization.

Selection process
RECRUITMENT PLAN:

In CNIC, the specific regulations approved by the Foundation's board of trustees establish a merit-based recruitment system (concurso) including a personal interview.
At least the 3 candidates with the highest score, as long as they reach the minimum of 65 points as a sum of criteria (C1-C5) will be interviewed. The candidate with the highest score will be hired given the total score (C1-C6) is higher than 80 points.
