Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Private Butler to serve a highly discerning private household at an ultra-luxury villa in Pedralbes, Barcelona. This is a rare and prestigious role requiring impeccable service standards, flawless attention to detail, and an innate ability to anticipate needs before they arise. The ideal candidate brings a wealth of private service experience, operates with absolute discretion, and delivers a seamless, personalised experience at every touchpoint — every single day.

This is a freelance / on-call position, active during the principals' stays at the property. The frequency and duration of engagements may vary throughout the year. Candidates must be available to commit to confirmed dates and deliver the same level of excellence on every occasion, regardless of duration. There is potential for this role to evolve into a permanent position for the right candidate. Occasional travel may also be required as part of the engagement.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day running of the household to the highest standard — overseeing schedules, coordinating household staff, and ensuring every detail is in perfect order.
• Deliver a discreet, anticipatory, and highly personalised service to the principal and their guests — table service, wardrobe management, formal entertaining, and all personal needs.
• Coordinate and manage private events, dinners, and special occasions — liaising with external vendors, service providers, and the culinary team to ensure flawless execution.
• Manage household inventory, silver, fine tableware, wine cellar, and luxury assets — ensuring everything is maintained, replenished, and presented to the highest standard.
• Travel with the principal as required, maintaining the same level of excellence across locations and adapting swiftly to new environments.
• Proactively identify and resolve any household or service issues before they impact the principal's experience — a problem-solver who acts quietly and effectively.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a private butler or in a senior household management role for an HNW or UHNW principal — a proven track record in private service is essential.
• Fluency in English and Spanish — essential for this role. Additional languages are a strong plus.
• Strong knowledge of fine dining service, wine, formal table setting, and the protocol expected at the highest levels of private hospitality.
• Absolute discretion, loyalty, and emotional intelligence — the ability to build a trusted relationship with the principal while maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
• Immaculate personal presentation, a calm demeanour under pressure, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in every interaction.
• Experience coordinating and managing household staff, external contractors, and service suppliers with professionalism and efficiency.
• Flexible schedule and full availability — the role adapts to the household's needs, not a fixed timetable.
• Willingness and full availability to travel internationally at short notice alongside the principal.
• Proactive, adaptable, and service-oriented mindset — anticipates needs and acts before being asked.
• Physical stamina to meet the demands of a high-paced, dynamic private household environment.
