Senior Java Engineer (Us Working Hours)

We're looking for a Senior Java Engineer to join our team in Malaga, Spain in a remote working mode.
In this role, you will develop and enhance backend services supporting MLS Touch and MLS Client, two mobile applications enabling real estate professionals and their clients to collaborate seamlessly throughout the property search and transaction journey.You will design and maintain REST APIs, scalable microservices, and optimized data layers, ensuring security, performance and reliability.
The position requires availability to work under a US-aligned schedule: approximately 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM Spain time ( ending at 3:00 PM CST ).
This schedule is essential to collaborate effectively with the distributed team and stakeholders.This role offers the opportunity to leverage modern Java technologies, optimize backend architectures and make use of AI-assisted development tools to enhance code quality and productivity.Responsibilities Design, develop and enhance backend services using Java and Spring BootBuild and maintain REST APIs for mobile applications and external integrationsWork with MySQL databases, including schema design, query optimization and troubleshootingContribute to the design and improvement of a scalable, microservices-based architectureImplement secure, maintainable and well-tested code following engineering best practicesDiagnose defects, resolve production incidents and performance bottlenecksParticipate in code reviews, solution design and technical discussionsCollaborate with developers, QA engineers and product teams to deliver backend componentsEnsure observability, monitoring and CI/CD integration for stability and automationApply AI-assisted coding tools to improve quality and efficiency where appropriateRequirements Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot developmentKnowledge of REST API principles, microservices architectures and distributed systemsProficiency in MySQL including data modeling, query optimization and SQL tuningUnderstanding of clean coding practices, design principles and test automationExperience with unit and integration test frameworksFamiliarity with CI/CD processes and tools and Git version controlAwareness of application security including authentication and secure API developmentAbility to troubleshoot production systems using logs, monitoring and metricsStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in distributed teamsEnglish proficiency for communication with international stakeholdersAbility to work US-aligned hours: 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM Spain time (up to 3:00 PM CST is mandatory)Nice to have Background in real estate platforms, MLS systems or high-volume data environmentsExperience with mobile application backends or cloud infrastructureExposure to AI-assisted development methods and toolsWe offer Private health insuranceEPAM Employees Stock Purchase Plan100% paid sick leaveReferral ProgramProfessional certificationLanguage coursesEPAM is a leading digital transformation services and product engineering company with 61,700+ EPAMers in 55+ countries and regions.
