Journalist & copywriter - Retail

We’re looking for someone with a background in journalism and an eye for retail trends—someone who loves digging into data, spotting stories others miss, and creating standout content (think blogs, video scripts, newsletters, and more). You’ll need strong research chops, storytelling flair, and an understanding of how the retail world ticks. Most of our Marketing team is in Málaga, Spain, but we work globally—so don’t let geography stop you.
What is Plytix?
Plytix is the world's leading Product Information Management (PIM) platform for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (SMBs). Plytix PIM helps companies store and organize product information ranging from descriptions and images to prices, and other specifications, in one place. Essentially, it's a handy tool that makes managing and updating product data a whole lot easier.

What’s the opportunity?
This is your chance to come and work for a high-growth B2B SaaS company located in the US, Denmark, and in Spain. Plytix is backed by Tier 1 investors, such as Tiger, and is already a global industry leader within PIM—one of the fastest-growing verticals in the retail industry.
As a Retail-focused Journalist, you’ll uncover stories that matter—from big box stores to boutique DTC brands. You’ll create content that resonates across the ecommerce landscape, contributes to thought leadership, and helps position Plytix as the voice of authority in retail tech.
What will you be doing?
You’ll be the go-to person for content that dives into retail trends and news. Your work will bridge the gap between industry insights and Plytix’s mission.
Here’s what your day-to-day might look like:
- Report on retail and ecommerce trends, news, and innovations
- Research and write content that connect with most people who work in retail
- Research and analyze key industry shifts—think supply chains, seasonal peaks, sustainability, and tech adoption
- Create content that supports marketing campaigns and strategic messaging
- Interview retail experts and turn insights into engaging stories
- Collaborate with design and content teams to make sure everything looks and sounds on brand
After 1 month:
You’ve completed the Plytix onboarding—including earning your Product Information Management Certificate—and you’re already getting busy with your first projects. You’ll know how the Plytix org is structured and you more or less knows who to pester to get the data and insights you need for your story.
After 3 months:
You’ll be fully up and running—producing sharp, relevant content that speaks to our retail-savvy audience. Your research will go deeper, your stories will hit harder, and your voice will align perfectly with our brand.
6 months in:
By now, you’ll be our retail radar—anticipating trends, breaking down complex topics, and crafting pieces that spark real conversation. You’ll take the lead on bigger projects like case studies, whitepapers, and industry reports that position Plytix as a key player in retail content.
Who you’ll be working with?
You’ll be part of our Content & Marketing team, working closely with fellow content creators, designers, and strategists. You’ll also collaborate with Sales, Product, and Customer Success to make sure our content aligns with company-wide goals.
What do we look for in the ideal candidate:
- Have 4+ years of experience in journalism, content marketing, or a related content field
- Have a deep interest in retail, ecommerce, and consumer trends
- Be comfortable researching and writing across formats (blogs, scripts, newsletters, reports)
- Be a sharp editor with excellent written English
- Master the art of writing content for people, but optimized for SEO and LLMs.
- Know how to turn technical or complex topics into easy-to-digest stories
- Know your way about spreadsheets and be comfortable with analysing data
- Be a dog with a bone when it comes to interviewing and getting quotes from industry leaders
Nice to have
- Previous experience covering retail, ecommerce, or consumer industries
- A background in SaaS or B2B content
- Love for the Oxford comma
