DevOps Systems Engineer, ESC Managed Operations

Join Our Team as a Systems Engineer

We are excited to announce the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) and are looking for experienced Systems Engineers to join our AWS Managed Operations team. If you have a strong background in automation and operations, this is your chance to play a pivotal role in delivering high-availability AWS services exclusively for EU customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the ongoing operations and expansion of the ESC.
• Collaborate with global AWS teams to influence the evolution of AWS services and technology.
• Enhance day-to-day operations, focusing on availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.
• Participate in “on-call” rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours.
• Review operational health and identify anomalies to improve system efficiency.
• Provide constructive feedback on change management documents and address operational backlogs.
• Engage in the development and testing of scripts to enhance workflows.
• Educate service teams on the complexities of the European Sovereign Cloud.

Requirements

• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Must be a national of an EU member state and residing in the EU.
• Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting.
• Proficiency in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.
• Experience in systems engineering or site reliability engineering.
• Ability to lead the creation and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with monitoring frameworks (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog).
• Mentoring experience with junior engineers and leading cross-organizational efforts.
• Experience operating 24x7 high-availability distributed software applications.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
