Cyber Security Engineer

Job Overview

We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our Information Security Team in Barcelona. This is a great opportunity for someone with systems engineering and networking experience who has moved into cybersecurity in recent years. The work involves SIEM/SOC operations, endpoint protection, network security, and privileged access management. We are looking for hands‑on experience with modern security platforms and an interest in improving security in a global environment.

About You – Experience, Education, Skills, and Accomplishments

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, related degree or relevant equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting cybersecurity solutions in enterprise and cloud environments.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on systems engineering and network administration experience, either before or alongside the cybersecurity career.
• Proven track record using enterprise security technologies, including SIEM, XDR/EDR, vulnerability management, and secure access tools.
• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or a related field (optional).
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications (e.g., OSCP, CEH, GIAC).
• Familiarity with modern security architectures (zero trust, segmentation, identity‑centric models, secure remote access).
• Knowledge of cloud security, preferably with hands‑on AWS experience; and experience with automation or scripting for security (Python, PowerShell, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise and cloud security solutions aligned with corporate standards.
• Collaborate with SOC and monitoring teams to strengthen visibility, detection, and security control effectiveness.
• Support and improve the vulnerability management program, including remediation guidance and risk‑reduction metrics.
• Contribute to integrate and automate security data and processes across enterprise platforms.
• Assist in evaluating new technologies and ensuring their secure adoption.
• Define requirements based on the security strategy and implement capabilities to meet established standards and reduce risk.
• Run proof‑of‑value tests and operationalize cybersecurity tools and processes to improve Clarivate’s security posture.
• Stay aware of emerging threats and design capabilities to mitigate them.
• Respond to security incidents and SOC escalations.

About the Team

The Information Security team includes over 45 professionals organized across different functional areas. This role belongs to one of those areas and will report directly to the Cyber Security Manager. We bring together deep expertise across security operations and engineering, including SIEM and SOC practices, endpoint protection technologies, network security solutions, and privileged access management.

Hours of Work

This is a full‑time, permanent position based in our Barcelona office. This is a hybrid position, working from the office 2‑3 days per week.
