About the job

As the Zone Head of Finance Operations, Western Europe, you will lead finance operations, accounting, statutory reporting, compliance, and governance across multiple countries and legal entities. You will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial information, supporting sound business decisions, and driving operational excellence through strong partnerships with local finance teams, shared services and global stakeholders. In this role you will help simplify complexity, strengthen financial controls and contribute to the transformation of Finance across Western Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead finance operations across multiple countries, ensuring accurate financial reporting, statutory compliance and timely financial close activities.
• Maintain strong governance and control environments, ensuring readiness for internal and external audits and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Partner with shared services and local finance teams to deliver high‑quality finance operations and continuously improve efficiency, consistency and service levels.
• Provide expert guidance on accounting, reporting, tax, treasury and regulatory matters to senior Finance leaders and business stakeholders.
• Drive finance transformation initiatives, including process harmonization, digitalisation, automation and system implementations across the region.
• Lead, develop and inspire a diverse team of finance professionals, fostering collaboration, continuous learning and accountability.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives such as business integrations, organisational changes and performance improvement programmes.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy, completeness and compliance of financial statements and statutory reporting across all countries and legal entities within scope.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities, ensuring the delivery of reliable financial information for internal and external reporting.
• Lead relationships with auditors, tax authorities and regulatory bodies, ensuring effective coordination and timely resolution of issues.
• Maintain a strong internal control framework and promote compliance with accounting policies, governance standards and risk management requirements.
• Partner with business and Finance stakeholders to support strategic decision‑making through financial analysis, insights and technical expertise.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, systems and operating models to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
• Build and develop high‑performing teams while fostering an inclusive culture aligned with Opella values and behaviours.

About You

• Significant experience leading finance operations, accounting, audit or financial reporting activities within an international and multi‑country environment.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting, statutory reporting, internal controls and regulatory compliance, including IFRS and local accounting requirements.
• Experience working with shared services or global business services organisations and managing complex stakeholder networks.
• Proven ability to lead teams, influence senior stakeholders and navigate change in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, with the ability to balance operational excellence and strategic priorities.
• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualifications are considered a plus.
• Fluent English required; additional European languages are advantageous.
