The SAP Development Manager – Finance is responsible for leading the Barcelona-based SAP FI/CO development team supporting Werfen’s financial accounting, controlling, and finance business processes.
This role combines people leadership, SAP functional expertise, and technical solution governance. The manager will oversee day-to-day team operations, delivery execution, resource planning, technical direction, and capability development while supporting Werfen’s long-term SAP modernization and Clean Core journey.The successful candidate must be both functionally strong in SAP FI/CO processes and technically credible in SAP development and architecture. The role requires the ability to guide solution design decisions, challenge unnecessary customizations, and promote scalable, upgrade-friendly SAP solutions aligned with SAP standard capabilities.This is a true management role with accountability for team performance, prioritization, execution discipline, employee development, and operational effectiveness.The ideal candidate has experience working in structured SAP environments with strong governance and standardization practices and has participated in initiatives focused on reducing customization complexity and modernizing SAP solutions.

Key AccountabilitieLead and manage the SAP FI/CO development team, including workload balancing, delivery planning, prioritization, employee development, coaching, and performance managementDrive effective execution and accountability across the team while ensuring high-quality support and project deliveryPartner with business stakeholders and IT business partners to deliver scalable and maintainable SAP FI/CO solutions aligned with business prioritiesProvide functional and technical leadership for overall SAP FI/CO function, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Cost Center Accounting, Bank connectivity, workflows, related interfaces, etcSupport Werfen’s Clean Core strategy by promoting SAP standard functionality, upgrade-friendly enhancements, and reduction of unnecessary custom developments, this role with perform the overall governance of the team daily execution and directionReview existing custom solutions and identify opportunities for simplification, standardization, modernization, or redesignEstablish and enforce SAP development standards, documentation expectations, support processes, and technical governance practices within the teamActively join and contribute to the related design of any other enterprise application that has integration with SAP and has impact on the FI/CO function, ensure the proper design and system stabilitySupport project delivery, operational support activities, issue resolution, and cross-functional coordination with global IT teamsContribute to organizational capability building through mentoring, knowledge sharing, process improvement, and team development initiativesProvide backup leadership support across other SAP functional teams when required

Minimum Knowledge & Experience required for the positionMaster’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplineMinimum 10 years of SAP experience with strong expertise in SAP FI/CO processesMinimum 5 years leading or managing SAP development teamsStrong functional knowledge of SAP FI/CO business processes including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset accounting, cost center accounting, outputs, and integrations.Strong technical SAP knowledge including the most modernized SAP technology including SAP cloud development, BTP, RAP, Fiori, etc. The classic development skills are basic, for example, ABAP development, enhancements, interfaces, APIs, forms, workflows, and SAP architecture concepts.Experience working in SAP environments with structured governance and standardization practicesExperience participating in SAP transformation, standardization, or Clean Core initiatives preferredExperience evaluating and reducing legacy customizations preferred.Experience in SAP S/4HANA environments required.Experience in regulated manufacturing, medical device, healthcare, or similar industries preferred.Experience collaborating with Finance processes or supporting cross-functional SAP initiatives is a plus.
