Backend Engineer

Embat is one of the fastest‑growing startups in Europe, founded in 2021 to revolutionize how medium and large‑sized enterprises manage their finances and cash flow in real time. Our mission is to create a SaaS product that uses advanced technology and delivers excellent customer experiences, allowing our clients to make faster, better‑informed business decisions, all while improving efficiency by over 100x compared to Excel.

We are a diverse team of 80+ members, backed by leading international investors, aiming to go global and make Embat a fantastic place to work. In February 2024, we completed our third funding round of €15 million, led by the renowned international fund Creandum, alongside partners Samaipata, 4Founders Capital, and VentureFriends.

What are we looking for?

Backend Engineer , you will work together with our development team, product managers, and designers in an evolving, agile environment. You will interact daily with every team member – no bureaucracy or hierarchy. We give you space to build, collaborate, and create direct impact for our users, and we love team members who challenge and question the features they work on.

Our Frontend is built with ReactJS. We use Figma to build our proprietary Design System and UI Kit. Our Backend runs on NodeJS and our platform on Google Cloud, enabling us to move fast, scale up, and maintain strong resiliency.

What will you do?

Work with an experienced development team and product managers to ideate, brainstorm, and build impressive financial features. Code hard, think hard.

Design, develop, and maintain our APIs and web applications for maximum robustness, scalability, and security.

Test all new features and enhancements to ensure responsiveness and efficiency, mastering troubleshooting, debugging, and upgrades. Document your code so the team stays fully aligned.

Help protect our users' data, confidentiality, and integrity by creating security and data protection settings.

Help build CI/CD, monitoring, and testing practices together with the rest of the team.

Work in a comfortable and rewarding environment, ensuring that the Embat culture and mission are safeguarded and spread.

Be ready to develop skills and learn from other experts.

Qualifications

• Experience scaling distributed systems with large data volumes.

• Strong knowledge of software architecture design patterns and coding best practices.

• Comfort with testing environments and attention to detail; pride in high quality.

• Background studies related to Computer Science.

• Languages: Working proficiency in English & fluent in Spanish.

• Location: preferably in Madrid or elsewhere in Spain.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with our tech stack: NodeJS, React, Redux, Storybook, Express, Cypress, Jest, MongoDB, Python, GCP, Gitlab CI/CD.
• Experience with CI/CD processes and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of test coverage tools and quality monitoring.
• Previous experience in the financial industry or fintechs.
• International experience and additional languages to embrace our inclusive culture.
