Byld

Byld, Spain's first corporate venture builder, creates businesses alongside major corporations. Its model focuses on leveraging a company's key assets (customers, distribution, know-how, intellectual property, resources, etc.) in the new venture, reducing risk and increasing the chances of success. Through a unique methodology, Byld identifies, validates, and launches new ventures, partnering with companies such as Unicef, Sanitas, Caser, Telefónicaand Porsche, among others.

We are looking for an entrepreneur to be the CEO of a startup revolutionizing the world of second-hand items.

Who are we?

Byld is a Spanish Corporate Venture Builder founded in 2017 that designs, validates, and launches new ventures with corporations sharing risks and rewards from day one. We lead and co-found new ventures from scratch combining the best of the entrepreneurial and corporate worlds to encourage the creation of scalable businesses with an international scope.

Together with Caser, Helvetia Group, we have designed, validated and built the business plan for Btn, a startup created to enhance the world of second-hand items with a new value proposition. Btn helps buyers and sellers get more from their transactions on second‑hand marketplaces. Through verification of the goods sold, refurbishment and embedded insurance, we bring more confidence and security to peer‑to‑peer transactions.

About the Role

Btn is a new way of acquiring second‑hand goods. We are seeking a visionary and experienced CEO to lead our groundbreaking startup revolutionizing the world of second‑hand items. Our ideal CEO is a digital‑first professional with experience in scaling up a company internationally and a management track record.

As CEO, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of this rapidly evolving sector, driving innovation, and delivering exceptional value to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership : Develop and execute a comprehensive business strategy aligned with the company's long‑term vision.
  • Team Building : Recruit, develop, and lead a high‑performing team of talented individuals.
  • Operational Excellence : Oversee day‑to‑day operations, ensuring efficient processes and optimal performance.
  • Efficiency : Oversee KPIs of the business, ensuring the correct development of the business plan and foreseeing potential problems and issues.
  • Strategic thinking : Spot risks to new product lines or sales channels and develop relevant responding plans.
  • Financial Management : Manage the company's financial performance, including budgeting, managing burn rate, forecasting, and fundraising.
  • Customer Focus : Prioritize customer satisfaction and drive customer acquisition and retention.
  • Market Expansion : Identify and pursue new market opportunities to accelerate growth.
  • Investor Relations : Build and maintain strong relationships with investors and stakeholders.
  • Technology Adoption : Leverage technology to drive innovation and improve operational efficiency.
  • Public relations : Be the public face for Btn.
  • Fundraising : Lead fundraising activities, both public and private (corporate strategic partners).

Required Skills and Experience

  • Entrepreneurship mentality. Ability to think outside the box, to truly imagine and articulate a strategy to unleash the full market potential for the company. A self‑starter and leader who assumes the risks and rewards of running an innovative, sustainable operation. We value people who have tried it : ).
  • Proven track record as a CEO or senior executive in a technology startup or company.
  • Experience in marketplace business models and digital transformation.
  • Experience leading the launch of best‑in‑class digital products.
  • Experience building and scaling organizations at Series A‑B companies.
  • Proven track record managing a P&L.
  • Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking.
  • Proven experience in data analytics and data‑based decision making.
  • Experience in fundraising and investor relations.
  • Relevant and strong sales skills.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • “Coachable”, adaptable, and strong leadership skills.
  • Experience hiring and retaining a good team.
  • Passion for innovation and a drive to succeed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of spare parts and refurbishing industries.
